INDUSTRY GROUPS & NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS Automotive Service Association National Association for Automotive Service Excellence - Always look for ASE-certified technicians and master technicians to be sure you are getting the highest quality auto repair. Car Care Council - This nonprofit group provides educational pamphlets about cars. Check out their website for lots of information about maintenance, safety and environment issues. INFORMATION SITES Autopedia - The Automotive Encyclopedia AutoSite - A comprehensive resource with information on new and used cars Woman Motorist - the site is geared to the concerns of women and presents automotive information in an unintimidating fashion Under the Hood - This site was an entry in the international Think Quest competition (a program that allows high school students to research, design and create websites on just about any topic). It provides an excellent tour through the systems of an average car and describes the principles behind how a car works. Keep in mind, the site was created by high school students, not professional mechanics, so you should not rely on any information. But if you'd like to know more about the inner workings of a car, it's a good place to start.
